All dentists must meet certain criteria to be licensed to work with patients, which involve a combination of education and hands-on training. First, they typically earn a bachelor’s degree in a related field. Then, they must earn either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from one of the 70+ institutions accredited by the American Dental Association (ADA). Once they’ve completed that, they can then choose to undergo additional advanced training to become an expert in one of the 12 officially recognized specialty topics.
At our Lewisville office, Dr. Matthew graduated with a DDS from the University of the Pacific’s Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco and is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. Meanwhile, Dr. Samuel pursued her DMD at the Rutgers School of Dental Medicine and is committed to continuing education, and Dr. May earned her DMD at the University of Montreal.
