How often should I get a checkup and cleaning?
All three of our dentists agree with the American Dental Association on this one, in that everyone over the age of four should receive at least two checkups and cleanings each year. This is the best way to ensure ongoing dental health and prevent small problems from becoming large ones.
My gums bleed every time I brush. Should I be worried?
This could be a sign that you’re brushing/flossing with too much pressure, or you might have early-stage gum disease. If the bleeding persists after lightening up on your oral hygiene, we recommend scheduling an appointment right away so we can take care of the infection.
My child only breathes through their mouth. Can you help change this?
Yes. This is often the result of a small/narrow hard palate that restricts normal breathing and changes the resting position of the tongue. We can correct this problem using Myobraces, a method that combines a wire placed behind the teeth and a removable oral appliance to increase the size of the hard palate while also straightening the teeth. This should allow the tongue to rest in a normal spot and the airway to open up.
I/my child are very nervous about visiting the dentist. Can you help with this?
Yes! We offer a number of sedation options that can safely and effectively calm patients of all ages so they can enjoy stress-free dental appointments. Sedation is available for any type of procedure and can be tailored to suit a patient’s unique needs. To learn more about sedation dentistry and how it could be used at you or your child’s next visit, call us today.
How should I replace my missing teeth?
This answer can differ from patient to patient depending on their specific situation, but most of the time, our first recommendation is dental implants. They simply offer the most complete solution because they are the only prosthetic that restores an entire tooth from root to crown. They look natural, never slip, and can easily last for decades at a time. You can learn more about them on our dedicated page here.
How can a dentist help with sleep apnea?
Sleep dentists like those at Creekview Family Dentistry have undergone special training to detect the signs of sleep apnea when examining a patient’s mouth and airway. If a patient does indeed have the condition, they can also provide custom-made sleep appliances that fit over the teeth and prevent the airway from closing during the night--this approach is also proven to stop snoring as well!
Help! I’m in a lot of dental pain! What should I do?
